Every year, on the third weekend of June, a historical episode is recalled that marked a great event for the City of Venice, called the Palio della MARCILIANA. The Marciliana, in fact, is one of the main popular festivals held precisely in Chioggia, where the city is revived, with a series of events, in the Middle Ages, and more precisely in the period from 1378-1381, known as “The War of Chioggia”. For the occasion, banquets, camps, taverns (taverns) are set up, with figures in fourteenth-century clothes as swordsmen, drummers all accompanied by dances, songs and simulations of fights.
This popular takes place in the 10 days of the first half of July and is open every evening from 6.30 pm.
Numerous food stands are set up along the Corso del Popolo, transforming the entire promenade into a large open-air restaurant. A unique experience that represents one of the most awaited events of the year where folklore, traditions and scents of Chioggia mix with each other, taking us back in time.
